We are proud that our coffee is sourced from Quindio. This region is part of the cultural coffee landscape of Colombia - UNESCO world's heritage. Our father began planting coffee trees on his parents' farm in 1975. This is a tradition that has lasted for more than 30 years in the Naranjal village in Quimbaya, Quindio. When the broca plague arrived it damaged most of our crops devaluing our coffee. Therefore the farm wasn't sustainable or profitable for a long time and the Robledo brothers decided to sell it. Years later, my brother, my mother and myself decided to start a coffee roasting business. The name of our coffee is in honor of our father and his obsesion for Colombian coffee. The Poporo designed in our package is a Quimbaya pre-Columbian art and a symbol of our indigenous culture.
SCAA points vary depending on the cupper and their experience. Generally, an organoleptic study is done on the coffee, giving it a score for its flavor, aroma, acidity, sweetness, and much more. The average score of the best-selling coffees in the common market at high prices is between 35 and 60 SCAA points.
The reason most Colombian coffees have average scores between 80 and 95 SCAA points is because of the care and experience that has been gained from working with the crops for a long time. The richness and nutrients of the land, the volcanic ashes, the height at sea level, and a climate that conspires for a unique, sweet, and natural development that cannot be matched by any other land.
The climate in the coffee region of Colombia affects the flavor of our coffee. It is also affected by the trees planted around it, since the coffee absorbs odors before and after being roasted. In the coffee region it is generally very hot during the day and cold at night, triggering a slow maturation process in the coffee bean resulting in a naturally sweet coffee. This process makes the sugars in the coffee more concentrated.
Purchasing coffee directly from the best coffee farms in our region gives us an advantage in terms of quality and freshness. Our coffee doesn't lose properties in long-term storage. After roasting we hand select defective grains so that they won't damage the flavor of our coffee. We can make daily shipments of freshly roasted coffee from Colombia to your business's door.
